New repeat customer in Recycling - strong potential in blown film segment

11/20/2025

Nexam Chemical continues to see accelerating commercial traction within Recycling, driven by strong market interest in our solutions for upgrading recycled plastics. Following the publication of our collaboration with Kullaplast, including a widely circulated video demonstration, inquiries from the packaging industry have increased sharply, particularly among producers of blown film.

A new customer, a market-leading manufacturer in blown film, has during the year progressively expanded its use of Nexam Chemical’s Reactive Recycling™ additives across a growing number of recycled film grades. The potential with this customer alone is considerable, with more than fifteen factories worldwide. Sales this year have already reached approximately SEK 2 million at a single European site.

In parallel, our development pipeline in blown film has grown to over 20 companies. These customers range from early-stage testing to industrialization, with consistently positive feedback on both product performance and the strengthened business case enabled by our additives. Many of these new contacts have found Nexam and Reactive Recycling™ through online searches – with the Kullaplast video proving highly effective in explaining the benefits – as well as through industry trade fairs.

“These developments stand in stark contrast to recent media reports portraying a struggling European recycling industry. The strong market pull we are experiencing reinforces our belief that performance-enhancing additives – used alongside conventional mechanical recycling – represent one of the most realistic, scalable and financially viable paths to circularity.”, says Ronnie Törnqvist, CEO of Nexam Chemical.

Nexam Chemical’s presence at the large K-Fair in Düsseldorf, Germany, and at the AMI Recycling Expo in Cleveland has significantly broadened our reach and led to a multiplied inflow of interested companies. These events also provided an opportunity for direct engagement with customers in North America and other overseas markets.

Meanwhile, innovation at Nexam’s R&D center is advancing rapidly. Development activities include a next-generation additive that has shown double the efficiency in laboratory testing. This new technology has the potential to further strengthen customer economics and accelerate adoption within blown film manufacturing.

“We continue to see a strong and growing pull from the market. The combination of improved product performance, better economics for our customers, and the increasing regulatory demand for recycled materials creates a very favorable environment for our technology,” says Henrik Bernquist, Business Manager at Nexam Chemical.

As the packaging and recycling industries move toward higher recycled content and improved material performance, Nexam Chemical’s technology is increasingly recognized as a key enabler. The company sees substantial opportunities ahead, driven by both expanding customer adoption and next-generation innovations currently under development.
